HISTORY

 The Salmon River Valley runs north and south between the Vernon/Falkland highway and Shuswap Lake. Farming, ranching and small business operations support the economy in the community.

FIRST NATIONS

 The Salish speaking tribes of the Shuswap Nation used the Salmon River valley as a resource base for community needs.

COMMUNITY HALL

 Silver Creek now has two halls, with the newer Seniors Centre built in 1978 just behind the Community Hall built sometime in 1927.

SENIORS CENTRE

 The Salmon Valley Seniors Centre (Branch #107) hosts card games, crafts and quilting. One of the most popular events is the monthly pancake breakfast.

REGIONAL LIBRARY

 The Silver Creek Branch of Okanagan Regional Library provides all the services of the main Centre. Active in the community the Library staff support community involvement in learning related activities.

SILVER CREEK SCHOOL

 The Silver Creek Elementary School provides education services for the Salmon River Valley. The school is strongly supported in the community with an active PAC.

GENERAL STORE

 The Silver Creek General Store serves the residents of the Salmon River Valley with everything from gasoline to groceries.

FIRE DEPARTMENT

 The Silver Creek Volunteer Fire Department is a dedicated group of local residents ready to respond to fire and other emergency calls.
